With "Boxer," The National crafted their finest album, with each song feeling essential, and organized in perfect combination. Of course to make this, there's certainly some extra material that didn't make the cut, which is essentially what "The Virginia EP" is, a collection of the songs and material not good enough to make "Boxer."
