Despite the album never charting it managed to sell a quarter of a million copies in the US alone; which if happened nowadays would be considered excellent.
I was obsessed with the album when it first came out, and it sounds so much fuller on vinyl. I absolutely love they kept the continuous play of the tracks when pressing it onto vinyl, far too many amazing albums that were originally released as continuous play have been ruined by remixing tracks to take away the continuous play when mastered for vinyl.
Poe had an often-rocky relationship with her father (As evidenced by the lyric “Fathers are black holes that suck up the light” from her earlier disc), who died in 1993, two years prior to Poe’s first album.
