In 1959, the group, now called Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, had been switched to the parent label, King Records, and released their first hit in 4 years, "Teardrops on Your Letter". It was a top 10 hit on the Billboard R&B chart, peaking at number 4 (it also reached number 87 on the Billboard pop chart), and re-established the Midnighters as a hit-making force.
