He was tragically killed in an M1 motorway crash in 1969. He was subsequently replaced by another fine drummer, Dave Mattacks. Martin may not have been the best drummer around.
12. Mai 2018 · Their hugely talented drummer, Martin Lamble and Richard Thompson's then girlfriend Jeannie Franklyn were killed. Later that Summer Jack Bruce dedicated his solo album (Songs for a Tailor) to the memory of Jeannie. Martin's drumming on the first three Fairport album's is tasteful and exquisite and a very important element of their early sound.

Am 14. Mai 1969 kam der Schlagzeuger Martin Lamble bei einem Unfall des Bandtransporters ums Leben. Die beiden neuen Mitglieder Dave Mattacks (Schlagzeug) und Dave Swarbrick (Gesang, Fiddle, Mandoline) waren dann auf der im November 1969 erschienenen LP Liege & Lief zu hören.
