Eva Ekeblad. Eva Ekeblad, born De la Gardie (1724–1786) was a Swedish countess and scientist. Eva Ekeblad. In 1748, she became the first woman to be elected to the Swedish Academy of Sciences. The choice was based on the new ideas of the Enlightenment, where women could publicly appear as intellectual, educated and creative individuals.

2. Feb. 2020 · Eva Ekeblad was born in Stockholm, Sweden on July 10, 1724. Her dad Julius De la Gardie was both a general and statesman. He fought in several battles, including the Battle of Gadebusch. After becoming a Lieutenant General in 1717, he became involved in Swedish politics, becoming President of a government agency called the Kommerskollegium.
