O'Connell joined the Dorsey band in 1939 and achieved her best selling records in the early 1940s with "Green Eyes", "Amapola", "Tangerine" and "Yours". In each of these Latin-influenced numbers, Bob Eberly crooned the song which Helen then reprised in an up-tempo arrangement.
I have only just discovered the endearing vocal talents of the very pretty Helen O'Connell. Yes, Helen's vocals do sound a little bit different to "run of the mill" singing divas of the 40's and 50's, but Helens voice is just so warm, enthralling and as mentioned earlier, so very "endearing" .....I just love it!
