As noted by his biography in the Beatles Bible, Sutcliffe's art skills were evident from a young age, and he would go on to enroll at the Liverpool College of Art — the photo above shows one of his paintings at an auction.

He happened to meet John Lennon at the Liverpool College of Art when he was introduced by a mutual friend. The three of them were all studying at the school, and Sutcliffe was noted as a brilliant painter.
