   Sadly I didn't see Carol Reed's full two-hour movie The Way Ahead but rather the 87-minute American TV version, retitled The Immortal Battalion. It's one of many poorly edited, poorly transferred war films from my Combat Classics DVD pack. But it's still Carol Reed and thereby still better than most wartime propaganda pictures of its day.
