Starting from the nice credits and music you immediately like this film and this is just the beginning! Trintignant founds in a nightclub a corpse beside the lovely Aulin who just says “I wasn’t it”.

As a glance at the filmographies of Bava or Fulci or Corbucci (or Lenzi or Martino or Deodato) will tell you, the Italian film industry was hardly above riding the commercial waves of prevailing cinematic trends or even just ripping off specific hits. Deadly Sweet feels similarly secondhand, but it's a rarer bird.
