In 1947, Elia Kazan struck Oscar gold with his anti racist film Gentleman’s Agreement, so in 1949 the studio tried it again with Kazan at the helm with Pinky, but Oscar voters didn’t go for it a second time, at least not to the same extent only resulting in a few acting nominations.

Kazan plot. The dog Kazan lives in the wild in Canadian nature. In the past he was mistreated by forest runners and because of this he has a great distrust of humans. Thomas Weyman tries to gain the dog's trust. His attempt is hampered by the sadistic Maitlin, who wants to use the dog in illegal dog fights.
