Iphigenia in Aulis has had a significant influence on modern art. Greek director Michael Cacoyannis based his 1977 film Iphigenia (starring Irene Papas as Clytemnestra) on Euripides's script. This one shocked me. I am not aware of a lot of history honestly, and I really wished I did as I would have loved this film more. Nov. 2021 · Haven’t seen both films in a while, but what makes “Iphigenia” so great is what’s missing from Cacoyannis’s other adaptation, “Electra” (1962) – it’s more directly mythological, and less ambiguous that way. Still excellent, if I remember correctly. Really good critique, makes me want to give it a re-watch!
