Born near Zurich, Swiss-Canadian pianist Teo Gheorghiu burst on the music scene when he won first prize at the International San Marino Piano Competition in 2004 and followed up with the top award at the Franz Liszt International Competition in Weimar. He captivated hearts in the moving film about a music prodigy Vitus (2006), with Bruno Ganz.
Teo Gheorghiu made his debut at the age of twelve with Schumann’s Piano Concerto at the Tonhalle Zurich. Since then he has developed a diverse repertoire and has performed with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, Orquestra Sinfonica de Bilbao, Danish National Symphony, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow and TonhalleOrchester Zurich.

Much like my dad, once I hit the road it’s all gas, no brakes, and after twelve intense days, my pilgrimage came to an end - to find a new beginning, a new understanding, and a new sense of belonging with the past nourishing the present. Pedalling to my roots was at once cathartic and wholesome, and this album is powered by this inspiration.
