Walther Funk wurde am 18. Aug. 1890 in Trakehnen/Ostpreußen geboren. Er besuchte das Gymnasium in Insterburg und studierte dann in Leipzig Rechtswissenschaften und Volkswirtschaft mit dem Ziel, Handelsjournalist zu werden. Als Leiter des Handelsteiles der "Berliner Börsenzeitung" wirkte er im Jahre 1923 für die Beendigung der Inflation und für die Stabilisierung der deutschen Währung.
Walther Funk (1890–1960) was Minister of Economics and President of the Reichsbank (national bank) in Germany. Funk participated in efforts to drive German Jews from the economy and played a major role in recycling confiscated property, valuables, and financial assets of Holocaust victims into the German war economy.
