11. Feb. 2016 · Ole-Johan Dahl joined Kristen Nygaard at the NCC. They designed the Simula concepts and language together, and Dahl carried out the difficult task of writing the program that translated descriptions into computer instructions. In 1968 Dahl became the University of Oslo’s first computer science professor and built its Informatics Department.
Dahl received the ACM Turing Award (joint with Kirsten Nygaard) in 2001 for ideas fundamental to the emergence of object oriented programming languages. (MRW, 2012) (MRW, 2012) Ole-Johan Dahl died June 29, 2002 after a long battle with lymphatic cancer.
Abstract. On 12 October 1931, Ole-Johan Dahl was born to the family of a ship captain in Mandal, the southernmost city of Norway. In 1952, three years after beginning his studies at the University of Oslo, he was introduced to computers at the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment (NDRE) where he fulfilled his military service obligation.

Ole-Johan Dahl (født 12. oktober 1931 i Mandal, død 29. juni 2002) var Norges første professor i datalogi. Han udviklede sammen med Kristen Nygaard programmeringssproget Simula , og han regnes derfor for en af den objektorienterede programmerings fædre.
