Piktorializmus. Julia Margaret Cameronová – Čakám ( 1860) Piktorializmus je fotografický smer, ktorý sa objavil okolo roku 1885 a usiloval sa o priblíženie fotografie k maľbe alebo grafike. Najväčší rozmach dosiahol na začiatku 20. storočia a začal ustupovať po roku 1914 v súvislosti s nástupom modernizmu .
Piktorialismi jäljitteli vallitsevia tyylejä maalaustaiteessa, pehmeä terävyys tuli impressionismista ja pyrkimys vahvaan muotoiluun ja abstrakteihin kuvioihin art nouveausta ja symbolismista. Muotokuvauksessa huomio kiinnitettiin kuvattavan kasvoihin ja silmiin muun osan jäädessä pehmeästi epäteräväksi. [2]
