8. Feb. 2024 · At approximately 1.20 a.m. on 23rd March 1801, Zubov, Bennigsen, Panin and van dr Pahlen and 10 soldiers broke into Paul's bedroom at the Mikhailovsky Palace. (Admiral de Ribas died prior to the event). They saw an empty bed, felt that it was still warm and they discovered Paul hiding behind a decorative screen.
