Ein Stromausfall (auch: ungeplante Versorgungsunterbrechung) ist eine plötzlich ungeplant auftretende Netzstörung im Stromnetz, durch die unbeabsichtigt die Elektrizitätsversorgung der Stromverbraucher unterbrochen ist. Geplante Versorgungsunterbrechungen werden zuvor angekündigt und müssen ebenfalls der Bundesnetzagentur gemeldet werden.
