Reason Over Passion (French: La raison avant la passion) is a Canadian experimental film, directed by Joyce Wieland and released in 1969.
With this piece Wieland creates the conditions under which the political meets the personal, a place where the masculinity of public life encounters feminized domesticity, and where reason and passion become bedfellows.
The anti-war, feminist, ecological, and civil rights causes that inspired Wieland would remain just as important when the artist turned her attention toward Canada to explore the question of national identity. Activism and Nationalism.
