Gavin Astor, 2nd Baron Astor of Hever DL (1 June 1918 – 28 June 1984), was an English soldier, publisher, peer, and member of the Astor family. Lord Astor served as chairman of the Times Publishing Company and president of the family owned Times Newspapers Ltd.

In 1922 he became MP for Dover and purchased The Times newspaper where he remained chairman until 1959 when his son Gavin took over. He was created 1 st Baron Astor of Hever in 1956. In 1962 John Jacob placed the Castle in trust for his son Gavin and retired to France where he died in 1971.

Leben und Karriere. Astor wurde am 16. Juni 1946 als Sohn von Gavin Astor, 2. Baron Astor of Hever und Irene Astor geboren. Nach seiner Ausbildung in Eton diente er von 1966 bis 1970 in der Life Guard. Astor arbeitete 11 Jahre in Frankreich und war dort der „Schirmherr“ der Conservative Party.
