19. Sept. 2008 · Just as GeekDad was making preparations for Pirate Week, author Jeff VanderMeer brought news of Fast Ships, Black Sails, a new anthology of original pirate stories from Night Shade Books.
Fast Ships, Black Sails, edited by Ann and Jeff VanderMeer, walks a fine line but ultimately offers more of the former than the latter, presenting an anthology of original pirate stories by new and established writers who attempt to shed new light on the genre mostly known for its preoccupation with renegade outcasts with poor hygiene obsessed ...
Fast Ships, Black Sails hit the mark on a few occasions, but on others it didn't come close... In their introduction Ann and Jeff VanderMeer say how they were surprised at the breadth and difference of stories they received for the anthology.
