Bassist, keyboardist and recording engineer, born 14 December 1950 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Founding member of The Nits in 1974, left the band in 1981. Started a recording studio in 1982 and also works as a graphic designer. In 1989 he released under the name A•L•X his solo album Tenderness Of Cranes .
Alex Roelofs (14 december 1950) is medeoprichter van de in 1974 opgerichte Amsterdamse groep de Nits. In 1980 verliet Roelofs de Nits om diverse redenen (reizen, gezondheid) en startte zijn eigen opnamestudio, PPM Studio in Amsterdam.
Die Band wurde 1974 von Henk Hofstede, Michiel Peters, Alex Roelofs und Rob Kloet in Amsterdam gegründet. Bald wandten sie sich dem New Wave zu, spielten 1978 ihre erste Platte ein und beschlossen 1980, Profimusiker zu werden.

The Nits originally consisted of Henk Hofstede (vocals, guitar), Alex Roelofs (bass), Michiel Peters (guitar) and Rob Kloet (drums). Influenced by British pop music, especially the Beatles, they also incorporated influences from new wave music into their sound.
