This 1997 album arose from the Anokha music club night, formed by its host Talvin Singh and Sweety Kapoor, with music producer/DJ State of Bengal a.k.a. Zam Zaman. Anokha held weekly sessions at the legendary Blue Note venue at Hoxton Square in London's East End.

The sound of the Asian Underground from London’s beating streets. Twenty years since the founding of the legendary Anokha sessions, pioneering tastemaker Talvin Singh chronicles the era with his ‘Anthology of the Soundz of the Asian Underground’.
In late 1995, Singh founded the Anokha club night with promoter Sweety Kapoor at East London's Blue Note, where drum'n'bass DJs and South Asian punk bands went head to head with the amped-up sounds of his tabla and percussion.
