Hoyt Wayne Axton (March 25, 1938 – October 26, 1999) [1] was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and actor. He became prominent in the early 1960s, establishing himself on the West Coast as a folk singer with an earthy style and powerful voice.
Hoyt Axton hatte mit seinen eigenen Versionen weniger Glück, zwei Alben für Capitol Records verpufften mehr oder weniger. 1973 wechselte er zu A & M Records, kein ausgesprochenes „Country Label“. Jetzt aber gelang ihm erstmals der Sprung in die Country Charts, wo er 1974 sein Debüt mit „When The Morning Comes“ feierte.
