30. Aug. 2022 · The Lamp and the Star is the only one in the series on ECM. The Clines oversaw the recording in Los Angeles, and ECM took over the digital mixing and mastering in Oslo. Both LP and CD versions were released, both with the same program of music.

In 1987, he recorded The Lamp and The Star , his first album as a bandleader-composer. As the leader of his own group, The Alex Cline Ensemble, he can be heard on Sparks Fly Upward and The Constant Flame, two releases on Cryptogramophone Records, an LA-based independent creative-jazz label.
