3. Juni 2012 · For if you want to find the Dr. John-influenced album that we believe blew the circuitry in Auerbach’s cerebellum, you probably have to go to Johnny Jenkins’ Ton-Ton Macoute. See, it started out with “Walk On Guilded Splinters,” Mac Rebennack’s best song on Gris-Gris , which announced him to the world.
The fantastic Ton-Ton Macoute! album came out in 1970, with Jenkins as lead singer. Much of the guitar work was actually played by Duane Allman , and other members of the Allman Brothers Band also appeared (Butch Trucks, Berry Oakley and Jaimoe), as they were also managed by Walden.
