Selling the Gold is an album by the American musician Elliott Murphy, released in Europe 1995. It was released in the United States in January 1996. Murphy, who had for years been selling better in Europe, shot a video for "Love to America". Murphy supported the album with a North American tour.

Overview. Selling The Gold is ex-New Yorker Elliott Murphy's eighth studio album of new original material (his 15th release overall) and first in five years. Murphy returned to a style familiar from his first several albums of the 1970s, singing a group of folk-rock songs full of highly literate lyrics that commented on modern life from an ironic perspective.
