Shear went on to form two more bands, Reckless Sleepers and Raisins in the Sun. He also conceived (and hosted the first 13 episodes of) the MTV series Unplugged.

Raisins In The Sun was a collaboration between Jules Shear, Chuck Prophet, Jim Dickinson, Harvey Brooks, Winston Watson, Sean Slade and Paul Q. Kolderie. The group came together in Tucson to write and record an album together from scratch.
His discography consists of 12 studio albums, 2 compilations, 2 EPs, and 8 singles. In addition to his work with Funky Kings, Jules and the Polar Bears, Reckless Sleepers, and Shear Shazar, his compositions have been recorded by many other artists.
