Recorded at London Bridge Studio, Uncle Anesthesia was produced primarily by Terry Date and Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell. Unlike in the past, the band rehearsed for a couple of weeks before recording. The album took six and a half weeks to record.

Zuvor hatten sie 1991 mit Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) als Produzenten ein Album mit dem Namen Uncle Anesthesia veröffentlicht. Das Album Dust von 1996 enthielt mit All I Know eine weitere Hitsingle. Trotzdem entschied man sich, die Band nach der anschließenden Tour vorerst ruhen zu lassen.

Cornell worked as a co-producer and backing vocalist on the Screaming Trees' 1991 album, Uncle Anesthesia. In 1992, Cornell co-wrote the song "The Message" for the album Cuatro by the metal band Flotsam and Jetsam. Cornell performing at Ottawa Bluesfest in 2011
Er produzierte auch das Album Uncle Anesthesia der Screaming Trees. 1999 veröffentlichte er das nicht allzu erfolgreiche Soloalbum Euphoria Morning , wobei er mit Alain Johannes und Natasha Shneider von der Band Eleven zusammenarbeitete.
