Jeffrey R. Hanna (born July 11, 1947) is an American singer-songwriter and performance musician, best known for his association with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. His professional music career has spanned six decades.
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was founded around 1966 in Long Beach, California, United States, by singer-guitarist Jeff Hanna and singer-songwriter-guitarist Bruce Kunkel, who had performed as the New Coast Two and later the Illegitimate Jug Band.
Im Mai 1966 trafen sich Jeff Hanna, Bruce Kunkel, Jimmie Fadden, Jackson Browne, Les Thompson und Ralph Barr regelmäßig in McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Long Beach in Kalifornien und beschlossen, eine Band zu gründen.
