She was the elder daughter of the Englishman Almeric Paget (1861–1949), a Member of Parliament for Cambridge who later became the 1st Baron Queenborough, and the American heiress Pauline Payne Whitney (1874–1916), who married in 1895. Her younger sister, Dorothy Wyndham Paget, was born in 1905.

  7. HISTORICAL NOTE: the artist of this important memorial has not been traced. It is evident that Pauline Payne Whitney Paget died as a result of her wartime voluntary work. Her daughter, Dorothy Paget became famous as a racehorse owner and is buried nearby. The memorial is situated in the extreme south-east corner of the churchyard.
