In 1982, she had a moderate R&B hit with "Keep the Fire Burning". She continued to record and some of her earlier recordings on the UK's Northern Soul scene maintained her popularity as a live act in Europe. [1] .

Anfang der 1980er Jahre gelangen ihr mit Hilfe der Plattenfirma Atlantic gleich zwei Hits in den amerikanischen Discocharts: Funky Sensation (1981) und Keep the Fire Burning (1983), die auch in Europa (z. B. in den Niederlanden) erfolgreich waren. [2]
Die beiden funky Disco-Soul-Klassiker von Gwen McCrae von 1981 (Atlantic Records) erscheinen nun auch gemeinsam in ihren 7" Versionen - nach der 12" mit den beiden Extended Versions. "Keep The Fire Burning", ein Original von Willie Hutch, und das oft gesamplete "Funky Sensation" (u.a. von Africa Bambaaataa, Ghostface Killah und LL Cool J).
