Producer. Ray Manzarek. X chronology. Los Angeles. (1980) Wild Gift. (1981) Los Angeles is the debut studio album by American rock band X, released on April 26, 1980, [1] by Slash Records. It was produced by ex- Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek and includes a cover of the 1967 Doors song "Soul Kitchen".
Wild Gift showcases the band's unique punk rock style, which infuses roots rock, country, blues, R&B, and rockabilly. In 1988, Slash issued Los Angeles and Wild Gift jointly on a single compact disc. Wild Gift was remastered and reissued in 2001 by Rhino Records, with seven bonus tracks.
Der Keyboarder der Doors, Ray Manzarek, entdeckte sie und produzierte 1980 ihr Debütalbum Los Angeles, welches ein kleiner Hit in der kalifornischen Musikszene wurde. Ebenfalls gut aufgenommen wurde das Nachfolgealbum Wild Gift (1981), es wurde vom Rolling-Stone-Magazin zum Album des Jahres erklärt.

14. Sept. 2016 · Consider, too, that Manzarek—who got handed $10,000 by Slash to record Los Angeles and $15,000 to record Wild Gift—pretty much produced both albums for free and gave the money to the studios: Golden Sound in Hollywood for the former, Clover Recorders in Los Angeles for the latter.

Jan. 2021 · Manzarek – a man who knew a thing or two about singers with poetic tendencies – was instantly struck by the lyrics to X’s song Johny Hit And Run Paulene: ‘ He got a sterilised hypo, to shoot a sex machine drug/He got 24 hours, to shoot Paulene between the legs .’ “These aren’t lyrics,” he thought, “this is poetry.”.
