Admiral of the Fleet (posthumous) Mahidol Adulyadej (1892-1929) was former prince and a member of the Thai royal family. He was the father of Thai kings Ananda Mahidol ( Rama VIII) and Bhumibol Adulyadej ( Rama IX ). He is known as the Father of modern medicine and public health in Thailand.
Bhumibol Adulyadej (5 December 1927 – 13 October 2016), conferred with the title King Bhumibol the Great, was the ninth king of Thailand from the Chakri dynasty, titled Rama IX, from 1946 until his death in 2016.
As part of his new plan, Prince Mahidol Adulyadej of Songkla came to the U.S. to study public health at the Harvard-MIT School for Health Officers (as the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health was originally known).
