Sweet & Sour Tears is a 1964 album by Ray Charles. It is a concept album featuring songs with titles or lyrics referring to crying . In 1997, Rhino Records reissued the album on compact disc with seven bonus tracks from his early career (1956–1971) that added to the "crying" theme.
Leben und Wirken. Cecil Payne studierte Altsaxophon und Klarinette bei Pete Brown und fing 1946 auf der New Yorker Bebop-Szene in den Bands von Jay Jay Johnson und Roy Eldridge zu spielen an. Er stand dabei stark unter dem Einfluss der Musik von Charlie Parker; es folgten die Arbeit in Dizzy Gillespies Cuban Big Band von 1946 bis 1949 und der Band von Illinois Jacquet von 1952 bis 1954.
