The women who attended Mundelein received an excellent, comprehensive liberal arts education in a stimulating and nurturing environment. Mundelein alumnae and faculty have made significant contributions to the world.

In letters sent to former University President Sr. Ann Ida Gannon, BVM, they related every aspect of their lives. Much of it was sad. Illnesses abounded – they fought cancers, personal injuries, and their families’ diseases.

  6. Combined with the story of its now-affiliated neighbor from 1930-1991, Mundelein College, Loyola's history speaks to the broader history of Catholic higher education, the college experience, and Chicago.

  7. Mundelein College Photograph Collection. After opening in 1930 with its new Art Deco skyscraper, Mundelein College quickly expanded by purchasing surrounding buildings and constructing their own. These buildings, whether still standing or since gone, helped shape Loyola's campus today.
