Captain Sir Geoffrey de Havilland, OM, CBE, AFC, RDI, FRAeS (27 July 1882 – 21 May 1965) was an English aviation pioneer and aerospace engineer. The aircraft company he founded produced the Mosquito, which has been considered the most versatile warplane ever built, and his Comet was the first jet airliner to go into production.

Sir Geoffrey de Havilland, founder of the de Havilland World Enterprise, one of the first global manufacturing companies, was one of Britain’s aviation pioneers. Geoffrey and his colleague, Frank Hearle had designed and built their first aircraft, powered by an engine designed by Geoffrey, and neither of them had even seen an aircraft before.
Geoffrey de Havilland, one of the world's greatest aviation pioneers died peacefully from a cerebral haemorrhage in Watford Hospital on 21st May 1965. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered over Seven Barrows from a DH Trident flown by his lifetime friend and chief test pilot John ‘Cats Eyes’ Cunningham.
The Mosquito was first flown by Geoffrey de Havilland junior on 25 November 1940 and entered RAF service in 1941. Its first use was for photographic reconnaissance but eventually it saw service as an airliner, day fighter, night fighter, intruder, anti-shipping fighter, bomber and target tug.
