Dead Ringer was considered both a commercial and critical disappointment after the worldwide success of Meat Loaf's debut album Bat Out of Hell. Parke Puterbaugh of Rolling Stone called the album a "cast-iron drag" and chastised Meat Loaf for his "alarmingly awful" vocals.
Hintergrund. 1979 begann Steinman mit den Arbeiten zu Renegade Angel, dem Album, das für Meat Loaf als Nachfolger des 1977 veröffentlichten Album Bat Out of Hell vorgesehen war. Eine Kombination aus Touren, Drogen und Erschöpfung verursachten bei Meat Loaf jedoch eine schwere Stimmerkrankung, an das Einsingen eines Albums war nicht zu denken.
Bat Out of Hell ist ein 1977 erschienenes Studioalbum des US-amerikanischen Rocksängers Meat Loaf. Die Lieder wurden von Jim Steinman komponiert und geschrieben. 2001 erschien das Album zusammen mit drei Bonustracks. Beim ersten Bonustrack handelt es sich um Great Boléros of Fire, das als Ouvertüre der Bat out of Hell Livekonzerte ...
Bat Out of Hell is the 1977 debut album by American rock singer Meat Loaf and composer Jim Steinman. The album was developed from a musical, Neverland, a futuristic rock version of Peter Pan, which Steinman wrote for a workshop in 1974.
