Richard Keir Pethick Pankhurst OBE (3 December 1927 – 16 February 2017) was a British scholar, founding member of the Institute of Ethiopian Studies, and former professor at the University of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

Richard Keir Pethick Pankhurst war ein britischer Historiker und Äthiopist. Er war von 1962 bis 1992 Professor an der Universität Addis Abeba und einer der einflussreichsten Forscher und Autoren zur Geschichte Äthiopiens.
Richard Pankhurst was a prominent and influential historian of Ethiopia and Northeast Africa, who worked for decades in Addis Ababa. He published extensively on various aspects of Ethiopian culture, history, society and peoples, and was also involved in the return of Ethiopian treasures from abroad.
