About Faculty. Faculty of History of Moscow State Pedagogical University is one of the oldest educational departments of the faculty. First its doors were opened in 1900 as a historical and philosophical department of Moscow Higher Women’s Courses, and later became faculty of history and philology.
About 1,500 students studied at the four faculties of the university - history and philology, physics and mathematics, law and medicine. Moscow State University in the first half of the 20th century In the first half of the twentieth century, the university was one of the centers of advanced scientific knowledge and spiritual life in Russia.
Before 1959, it was part of the History and Philology series, later — the Philology and Journalism Bulletin. Since 1965, it has been a standalone series of Moscow University Bulletin, labelled Series 10. Philology before 1976 and Series 9. Philology from 1976 to the present day. It is one of Russia’s leading periodicals in philology.
They get to know various trends, theories, and scholastic schools in Russian and world philology. The curriculum of the Faculty of Philology incorporates general humanities, i.e. philosophy, history, psychology, pedagogy, general courses in mathematics and IT, as well as optional courses in science and humanities. Department of Ancient History. The founder of Moscow University, M.V.Lomonosov attached great meaning to the study of ancient traditions, and within the first ten years of the University's existence the academic development of issues in classical philology, ancient history, and Roman law began.
There are five university-wide faculties: Faculty of Philosophy. Faculty of History of Art. Faculty of Sociology. Faculty of Cultural Studies. Faculty of PR and Advertising. The eleven institutes are: Historical and Archival Institute.
