Other True Self is an album by American guitarist and Living Colour member Vernon Reid, his third as a leader. It was recorded in October 2005 at Gigantic Studios in New York City, and was released in 2006 by Favored Nations.

Vernon still stands just head and shoulders above the crowd, but perhaps the older, wiser Reid understood that he doesn’t need the blazing fast solo on every piece, and when showing this kind of range, restraint really helps. A beautiful and fascinating album. There’s nobody like Vernon Reid, whoever the true Vernon is.
