Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation was formed in 2021 following a merger between Durham School and The Chorister School. As a recognition of the history of the schools, the Pre-Prep is known as Bow School, the Prep is known as The Chorister School and the Senior School is called Durham School.
The Chorister School, Durham and Durham School will merge from September 2021 to form one Foundation. The new Foundation will continue to support choristers for Durham Cathedral and offer enhanced academic, pastoral and co-curricular opportunities for all pupils.
Chorister School is a Church of England school with boarding and day options for pupils aged 3 to 11. It is linked to Durham School and offers a Christian framework, excellent facilities and a happy learning environment.
It is a tradition we are proud to inherit and maintain and Westminster Abbey Choir is now one of the most famous choral foundations in the world. Today it is made up of twenty-four boys (choristers) and twelve adult professional singers, called lay vicars.

The school originated as the Columbus Boychoir in Columbus, Ohio. In 1950, the school relocated after receiving property in Princeton, New Jersey from the Lambert estate.

The school takes pupils aged 3–18 years and became fully co-educational in 1998. A member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference, it enrolls 495 day and boarding students. Its preparatory institution, known as the Chorister School, enrolls a further 250 pupils.
