    We are delighted to participate in the Oxford Open Doors initiative again this year. The college and ground will be open, free of charge to the general public (no group bookings or commercial tours groups permitted).

    We welcome groups subject to a maximum of 20 people; larger groups may split (and will require a guide/leader in each group). We welcome large groups, not exceeding 80, with a maximum of 100 persons on site at any one time. Pre-booking is essential if your group is 20 or more.     New College welcomes everyone and we want our disabled visitors to have a great experience with us. We offer free entry to companions or carers of disabled visitors. The disabled guests pays the reduced concession admission fee upon entry (carer/companion free).

    New College is a place of study all year round. Please therefore do not enter staircases, college rooms, or areas marked as private. The Cloisters, Hall, Chapel and Gardens are fully accessible (access to the hall is via a lift) but please be aware that our grounds have uneven surfaces.

    Dogs, except guide dogs, are not allowed in the college
    Please do not walk on the grass or picnic in the grounds
    CCTV is in use throughout the grounds
  2. New College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1379 by Bishop William of Wykeham in conjunction with Winchester College as New College's feeder school, New College was one of the first colleges in the university to admit and tutor undergraduate students.

  6. New College was founded in 1379 by William of Wykeham (1324-1404), Bishop of Winchester, as The College of St Mary of Winchester in Oxford. It very soon became known as New College to distinguish it from an earlier Oxford college (Oriel, founded 1326) also dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
