He sang with Huey "Piano" Smith and the Clowns in the early 1950s and then with the Tick Tocks—significant R&B groups in New Orleans. Scarface and I hung out a lot at the Dew Drop Inn on LaSalle Street. One night in March 1972, he was stabbed trying to stop a fight in front of a club on Dryades Street.

24. Nov. 2014 · Huey “Piano” Smith with Gerri Hall, a member of his group the Clowns in the 1950s and ‘60s. Smith and and Hall are the original voices on the song “Sea Cruise.” Hall, who lives in New Orleans, was visiting Smith at his Baton Rouge home in September 2001.
