Zusammenarbeit mit Sting. Im Jahr 1990 wurde Colaiuta nach einem erfolgreichen Vorspiel in die Tourband von Sting aufgenommen, um das damals aktuelle Album The Soul Cages zu bewerben. Colaiuta blieb anschließend bei Sting und spielte mit ihm die Alben Ten Summoner’s Tales und Mercury Falling ein.
In 1990, Colaiuta got a phone call from Sting, flew to England, and won the audition to become a member of his band. He remained with Sting for much of the 1990s, touring and recording the albums Ten Summoner's Tales (1993), Mercury Falling (1996), Brand New Day (1999) and Sacred Love (2003). [8]

When you work with artists such as Sting, how much freedom do you get with the drum tracks? When I did the first 2 albums, Ten Summoner's Tales, and Mercury Falling, we usually started more from scratch and Sting might have a sketchy idea in the Synclavier, or sequencer.
