We the Living is a two-part 1942 Italian romantic war drama film, based on Ayn Rand's 1936 novel of the same name. It was originally released as two films, Noi vivi (literally "We Live") and Addio Kira ("Goodbye Kira").
When a Soviet secret police agent also falls in love with Kira, the lives of all three intertwine and spiral toward disaster. An epic story of the unconquerable in the human spirit, We the Living is at its core a blazing declaration of the right of every human being to live free.

We the Living is the debut novel of the Russian American novelist Ayn Rand. It is a story of life in post-revolutionary Russia and was Rand's first statement against communism. Rand observes in the foreword that We the Living was the closest she would ever come to writing an autobiography.
Acclaimed. Premiering at the Venice Film Festival in 1942, We the Living was hailed as a cinematic masterpiece. Due to its original running time of almost four hours, it was released in theaters in two parts: Noi Vivi and Addio Kira. It was an immediate box-office sensation, becoming the top-grossing film in Italy in 1942.
