Pete Agnew (born 14 September 1946) is a Scottish musician best known as the bassist and backing vocalist for the Scottish rock band Nazareth. Born in Dunfermline, he is the sole continuous member who still is performing with the band, which released its first album Nazareth in 1971, and the last founding member who remains alive.
Ritchie Blackmore fragte um 1973 nach einem gemeinsamen Auftritt von Deep Purple und Nazareth in deren Kabine nach einem Ersatz für Ian Gillan in Person von Dan McCafferty, worauf ihm Pete Agnew androhte, ihm „ganz einfach sämtliche Knochen zu brechen, da McCafferty ein für alle Mal zu Nazareth gehöre“.

Pete Agnew spielt seit über 50 (!) Jahren Bass bei der schottischen Hardrock- Legende Nazareth – er ist zudem das letzte verbliebene Gründungsmitglied der weltweit sehr erfolgreichen Band. In der aktuellen Besetzung sitzt seit 1999 sein Sohn Lee am Schlagzeug.

25. Juni 2023 · Nazareth bassist Pete Agnew – these days the only living member of Nazareth – is sitting in the Pitfirrane Hotel in Fife telling us the story of his extraordinary band. It is 2004, and sitting opposite him is singer Dan McCafferty. The two men met on their very first day at school, aged five.
