World Theatre Day is a global celebration of theatre on March 27, initiated by the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in 1962. It features online and offline events, messages from renowned authors and artists, and performances from ITI centres and partners.
Since first being staged in 1962, World Theatre Day has been celebrated throughout the globe on March 27th. A platform for creativity and authenticity, World Theatre Day champions the people and organisations who have the vision and who make it manifest across all theatre forms and genres while encouraging the public and government to participate.

It was opened around 1947 and was a small theatre which had turned from art to porn before it closed as the Roxy Theater in the 1980’s.
