William A. Shine Great Neck South High School (commonly Great Neck South, South High School, or GNSHS) is a four-year public high school located in the Lake Success village of Great Neck, New York. The school serves students in grades 9 through 12 and is in the Great Neck school district.
The teachers, administrators, and support staff at South High School use a variety of online systems to fulfill their responsibilities and increase productivity. Professional development is a priority, and a wide array of inservice training opportunities are available for professional growth.
Dr. Shine was a very influential former Great Neck Public Schools Superintendent whose work still has a lasting impact today. When the school was created in 1958, it was simply called Great Neck South High School.
