She was born Bonnie Campbell in Blanchard, Oklahoma, United States. [1] She met Buck Owens when she was 15. They played in a band in Mesa, Arizona, and married in 1948. [1] They were the parents of musician Buddy Alan. [2] They moved to Bakersfield by 1951 and started music careers.
The former includes a mix of traditional songs arranged by Haggard as well as new Haggard originals. It also features the Iris Dement song "Shores of Jordan". Haggard produced the collection himself and is joined by Strangers steel guitarist Norman Hamlet and singers Porter Wagoner and Bonnie Owens .
Just Between the Two of Us hit number 4 on the country albums chart. In a retrospective review by Mark Deming for AllMusic, Deming wrote that the album is for "Haggard completists" and notes, "while Bonnie Owens was a good honky tonk singer, she was hardly a great one like Haggard, who seems to be holding himself back a bit musically as he defers to his spouse."
