16. März 2024 · Re: 977 Blue Velvet. #51 by hearthesilence » Sat Mar 16, 2024 3:49 am. Since I already have Criterion's Blu-ray, I'm hoping someone else releases a standalone UHD that either equals or betters Criterion's encode, in which case I can pick that up and have the best of both worlds.
Anyway, I don't recall the exact order, but my list included Aliens, The Fly, Stand By Me, Down by Law, The Green Ray, Castle in the Sky, Blue Velvet, Mauvais Sang, and Platoon. 18 lists submitted, an increase from '85, which was an increase from '84. Glad to see more users participating. I think the last three mini-lists are gonna be fun!

Elmes' technique harkens back to classical Hollywood cinema in the way scenes are lit and staged, often combining film noir lighting with a dark colour scheme that enhances and establishes the eerie atmosphere.
